Rotary Grimsby @Noon is continuing to do BIG things!

November is Rotary Foundation month, and we were pleased to learn that there are now only 2 countries in the world that have not stopped transmission of polio:  Pakistan and Afghanistan.  The World Health Organization (WHO) announced in 2015 that Nigeria is now polio-free.  Polio is paralyzing and crippling disease, and has no cure.  However, it can be prevented through immunization and clean water and waste treatment.  Rotary International continues its 28 year campaign to #EndPolioNow.

Through our support of Rotary Foundation, our local club is eligible to apply for Rotary District Grants -- more on that later!

Grimsby Rotary@Noon is preparing for its Annual Mayor's Charity Gala, to be held Feb. 20, 2016.  This year proceeds from this event will be directed to the Grimsby Walk for Guide Dogs.  On Nov. 24th, our club was pleased to host three people who spoke on behalf of this organization:  Pat Jaskula, of Canadian Tire, who organizes this Walk, Steve McDonnell, and his seeing-eye dog, and Don Tadeson, a resident who raises guide dogs.  Grimsby is a strong participant in the program to train guide dogs, who can be used to help individuals with various services.

On December 1st, we again had a good crowd in attendance at our noon meeting, and we heard the classification talk of one of our newer members, Shaun Adams, Grimsby Branch Manager, Meridian Credit Union.

Now is the time to be involved!  Get the word out about our upcoming Charity Gala, as we are now seeking sponsorships, silent auction items, and selling tickets.

For our final Tuesday noon meeting before Christmas, Tuesday Dec. 22,  the Judge n Jester will be serving us a turkey dinner with all the trimmings - so be sure to come for this fellowship time!
